Terms of Engagement: Employment Reports

  • VOCAT International will not accept instructions where payment is contingent on the outcome of the case. Where deferred payment terms have been agreed, that fact, together with a statement of the interest or enhanced rates applicable to the appointment will be specified. The basis of fees currently charged is as follows:
  • Attendance at meetings, conferences with counsel, or time taken with joint discussions with other experts will be charged at £130 per hour or part thereof.
  • Travel time will be charged at £60 per hour or part thereof.
  • Any travel by car will be charged at 45p per mile. Accommodation and other travel costs will be charged at cost.
  • Any disbursements and research expenses will be charged at cost.
  • Attendance at Court will be charged at £1,300 per day for the days booked to attend at Court.
  • A cancellation fee of 33% of the Court attendance charge will be levied if notification of cancellation of attendance is not given within seven full days of the time and date required to attend Court. If cancellation occurs on the day of court attendance, however, then we reserve the right to charge the full daily rate for all days booked.
  • An urgency fee of 25% may be levied on work requested to be done within a short time scale or where this has had to delay completion of other work.
  • A charge of 25% will be levied if we are required  to work over a weekend to meet any short-term deadline set by the Appointor(s).
  • VAT will be added to any charges and fees incurred.
  • The Appointor(s) undertake to pay any invoices raised on work done within 28 days of the date of receipt of the invoice.
  • Our fees will be paid in full, regardless of the outcome of any assessment by the Court.
  • Where questions are posed under CPR Part 35.6(1)(a) by a party other than the Appointor(s), the party posing the questions will bear the cost of the time and any disbursements incurred in answering those questions.
